The best things in my life have one thing in common: I never planned any of them.

Picture this: I'm in the middle of a facial treatment, hands on a client's face, when Amaya starts crying from across the room. I excuse myself, tend to her, and by the time she's settled, I'm late for my next appointment — and that client is not happy. I stood there that day, baby on one hip, apologizing to a frustrated customer, and thought: something has to give.

As much as I love esthetics, I needed a career that could bend around my life as a mother. I never imagined that career would be real estate — but then again, I never imagined a lot of things that turned out to be exactly right for me.
I grew up in the Bay Area, and after high school, I joined the military. College felt financially out of reach, and the military felt like a solid path forward. I was in the security forces — and that world is no joke. Intense physical training, long days, and 60-pound backpacks that became a regular part of my life. For a while, I thrived on the structure and the challenge. Then my back started talking to me. Loudly. It turned out I had two compression fractures in my vertebrae — the kind of injury that stops you completely.

I was medically discharged and entered a recovery process that took far longer than I wanted it to. My mobility was compromised, the daily pain was exhausting, and for the first time in a long time, I had no roadmap. That was one of my lowest points — not just physically, but emotionally. I didn't know who I was outside of the uniform.

Moving to Eugene turned out to be exactly what I needed. My grandparents live here, and I've always been close to them. Being near family helped. And somewhere in that quieter chapter of my life, I found esthetics. I'd dealt with my own skin issues growing up, so the field felt personal from the start. I went to esthetics school, fell completely in love with it, and then kept going — advanced school in Portland, facial procedures, skin rejuvenation, laser treatments, and all that jazz. I was hooked.

I worked at different spas and eventually crossed paths with Chloe, a fellow esthetician who became my friend. She was just as passionate about the work as I was. One day, we just looked at each other and said: why don't we open our own spa? That leap of faith became Melted Aesthetics — a spa built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel cared for and welcomed. We poured everything into it.
Then 2022 arrived and brought Devin with it. We met online, and I knew pretty quickly that he was different — patient, kind, genuinely good. He became my best friend before he became my husband. When Amaya, my daughter, arrived about a year ago, my whole world reorganized itself around her. Being present for her — really present — became everything.

That shift is what led me to real estate. I had always been curious about it and had vague plans to invest someday, but when Devin and I bought our home, curiosity turned into fascination. I started educating myself and couldn't stop. The pathways to homeownership are more varied than most people realize. The possibilities that come with owning property — financial freedom, generational wealth, stability — lit something up in me.
And then I recognized a familiar feeling: I had learned something that changed my life, and I desperately wanted to share it with others.
It happened with esthetics. It's happening again with real estate. I think that's just who I am.
I’m passionate about helping people feel informed when stepping into real estate, especially those who might feel intimidated at first. I break things down clearly so my clients know exactly what to expect, making the process feel approachable and attainable. Whether someone is a first-time homebuyer, a new investor, or exploring VA loans, I guide them in creating a thoughtful plan.
I take every transaction personally, prioritizing my clients’ best interests above all else. I believe in honest advice, even when it’s not the easiest to hear, and I would never lead someone into a deal that isn’t right for them. My goal is to help clients make smart, data-informed financial decisions and ultimately secure a strong investment.
I also value presentation, incorporating professional photography to showcase properties effectively. Beyond the transaction, I genuinely care about educating myself and staying immersed in the industry so I can better serve others. Empowering my clients through real estate education so they can achieve financial freedom is what I’m all about.
Sincerely,

Gillian Patterson
